Turning 60? Don't despair - here we are reborn through the Japanese concept of 'Kanreki':

Kanreki - the celebration of the 60th birthday in Japan, in which the person completes a full circle of the zodiac cycle from birth, and begins their “second childhood”.

Eto - Japanese zodiac animal cycle. NB: If you were born in 1960 then you are a Metal Rat.

Geju - the lowest rank of the distinguished status of elderhood from 60 years plus. As you hit 70, 80, 90, 100 there are other ranks.

Chanchako - the red vest / kimono, traditionally worn by children, but given as a gift on the 60th birthday along with a red cap and red cushion. Red symbolises new youth / the “second childhood”, free from what has gone before.

Yakudoshi - or calamitous times / times of uncertainty. These are usually for the worst but these can be times of opportunity too.....
